What Is Art Around Us?

Art Around Us is a four-month creative learning program for children, families, parents, and educators, developed in collaboration with BACC.

The program begins with a simple belief:

“Everyday life is art.”

Objects, sounds, movement, nature, stories, memories, recycled materials, and ordinary moments can all become starting points for imagination, expression, learning, and connection.

Art Around Us invites participants to look at the world through a different lens and experience art through the whole body and all the senses — not only by looking, listening, or following instructions.

Through movement, storytelling, sensory play, drawing, sound, games, observation, conversation, and art-making, participants are encouraged to explore, question, create, reflect, and discover their own ideas.

The program focuses on the creative process rather than perfection or a fixed final result. There is no single correct way to experience or create art. Children are given the freedom to experiment, make choices, solve problems, express themselves, and learn from others, with thoughtful guidance from professional art educators and facilitators.

Who Is Art Around Us For?

Children

Children will experience art through movement, sound, touch, imagination, play, and creative expression.

They will be encouraged to:

• explore materials and ideas freely
• express thoughts and emotions through different art forms
• ask questions and discover answers through experience
• develop creativity, confidence, communication, and collaboration
• understand themselves and appreciate the ideas of others
• connect art with everyday life, culture, nature, and the world around them

Art becomes something children can feel, create, remember, and carry with them — not only something they observe from a distance.

Parents

Parents will explore how to support children’s learning and creativity without controlling the process or giving every answer.

They will learn how to:

• observe and listen more closely
• ask open-ended questions
• guide children without taking over
• encourage curiosity and independent thinking
• communicate through art, play, and shared experiences
• create meaningful activities and toys from simple everyday materials
• turn ordinary family moments into opportunities for connection and learning

Parents do not need to be artists. They only need to be present, curious, and willing to explore alongside their children.

Families

Art Around Us creates time and space for families to slow down, step away from their phones, and create together.

Parents and children will share ideas, make choices, solve problems, and contribute to individual and community artworks.

Through this process, everyday objects can become art, play can become learning, and simple moments can become meaningful memories.

The goal is not to create a perfect artwork, but to strengthen connection, communication, trust, and the joy of discovering together.

Teachers and Educators

Teachers will learn how to facilitate creative, child-led, and multisensory learning.

The program will introduce practical approaches for:

• using movement, music, storytelling, sensory play, and art-making
• transforming everyday objects and natural materials into learning tools
• designing open-ended activities
• encouraging children to explore rather than imitate
• supporting different ways of thinking, moving, and expressing
• valuing the learning process more than identical final products
• connecting art with academic subjects and everyday experiences

Educators become facilitators of curiosity rather than providers of fixed answers.

Four Creative Learning Experiences

1.Parenting Through Art

A learning workshop for parents focused on nurturing curiosity, creativity, and independent thinking.

Parents will explore how to talk with children, ask meaningful questions, facilitate play, and create learning experiences using objects and materials already found at home.

2.Parent–Child Creative Workshop

A shared creative experience where parents and children make, play, explore, and contribute together.

Families will learn how to guide creativity without controlling it, express their identities, and become part of a collaborative community artwork.

3. Children-Expressive Arts Workshop

A multisensory creative space where children can express themselves through movement, sound, storytelling, sensory play, and visual art.

With gentle guidance from art educators, children will question, experiment, reflect, learn from others, and discover their own creative voice.

There is no single right or wrong way to create.

Art is part of who you are, and you can create art in your own way.

4.Multisensory Exhibition Tour

A new way for children and families to experience an exhibition.

Instead of only walking, listening, and following a guide, children will look, move, listen, draw, play, imagine, and respond to artworks through their whole bodies and all their senses.

Parents can observe and learn alongside their children, seeing how each child interprets art through a different lens.

When we change the way we experience art, art can change the way we see the world.

Why It Matters

Art Around Us aims to make art feel accessible, joyful, and connected to everyday life.

The program supports:

• creativity and imagination
• body and sensory awareness
• confidence and self-expression
• communication and collaboration
• emotional understanding and empathy
• curiosity and independent learning
• family connection
• appreciation for art and culture
• lifelong engagement with the arts

It also helps strengthen the wider art ecosystem by connecting children, families, schools, educators, artists, cultural spaces, and communities.

Through these experiences, we hope to nurture:

future artists, future audiences, and lifelong learners.

Our Vision

Art Around Us is not only a series of workshops.

It is an invitation to see differently.

To recognize that art does not exist only inside galleries, classrooms, or on stages.

Art can begin with a sound, a movement, a cardboard box, a leaf, a question, a feeling, or a moment shared between a child and an adult.

Art Around Us
Everyday Life is Art.
Experience it through a multisensory lens, together as a family.
